The West End

The West End of Aspen has long been an essential hub of the town’s cultural and intellectual scene. With the likes of the Aspen Institute, Benedict Music Tent, Harris Hall, and the Aspen Center for Physics, it’s easy to see why.

What was once a quiet neighborhood inhabited predominately by second homeowners taking advantage of the summer programs at their neighborhood nonprofit campus, there has been a surge in recent years of young families moving in full time.

They’ve discovered that quality of life, a quality public school system and a short walk to downtown makes the West End a charming place to live, especially with all the Victorian homes and miner’s cabins that have been preserved.

The city’s progressive historic preservation program, “Aspen Modern”, have fostered seamless additions and contemporary spec homes to blend in with historic architecture.

Wide streets lined with old Cottonwood trees, the West End is a charming place to ride bikes and take long strolls through the neighborhood.
