The western side of town is home to multiple neighborhoods surrounded by vast open spaces, two ski areas, and two golf courses. This location offers several benefits such as quick access to skiing at Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands, the Aspen schools, the Aspen Cross Country Center, Nordic ski trails, and the Aspen Recreation Center. If you prefer biking, you can travel seamlessly between these areas through the network of paved paths.
West Buttermilk is situated on one side of the ski area and boasts large lot sizes, privacy, and stunning views. On the other side of the mountain, at the base of Tiehack, luxurious homes in the Maroon Creek Club subdivision sit along the country club’s golf course, some with ski-in, ski-out living.
More densely populated areas, where you can find a higher percentage of full-time residents, include the base of Aspen Highlands, Meadowood (near Aspen Valley Hospital), and Cemetery Lane.
For a true local living experience, explore Cemetery Lane and its side streets, some of which border Aspen’s municipal golf course. This neighborhood reflects decades of life in Aspen, with many homes built in the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80.
The area is being redeveloped at a fast pace, and families are moving in and bringing new life to the area. The area also has become a hotbed of short-term rentals.
